friends with autism HELPDESK
We’re in the process of creating the Friends With Autism Helpdesk, a one-stop comprehensive website to help families, businesses, and the communities obtain accurate, information about autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in and around Northeast Florida.
The Friends With Autism Helpdesk was designed to be a visual tool to help the entire community locate the resources and supports needed on their autism journey. It will help those that:
A) suspect autism
B) have been newly diagnosed
C) hitting a transition point on the autism journey
D) have a neighbor, coworker, or friend with autism or has a child on the spectrum
E) a company is interested in employing people with autism, and/or
F) a business or organization interested in providing support to autism families, children, and/or adults.
Our Friends With Autism Helpdesk will have various links to businesses, agencies, nonprofit organizations, municipalities, schools, and military installations that provide online information, PDFs, and videos about autism. As well as Making Strides For Autism’s NEW Reference Guides with tips and tools that are created by local professionals in our region. Our goal is to release the Helpdesk no later than May 2019.
Please note part of our Helpdesk is already available on our website. Our Community Resource Directory has therapist, schools and more that provide services to the autism community. As well as businesses that has agreed to join the Friends With Autism Initiative as an Autism-Friendly Business. Don’t forget to check out our Community Event Calendar. We strive to keep it updated with events from all over Northeast Florida. Please check them often as we update them weekly.
This project is being completed by the University of North Florida's Florida Data Science for Social Good (FL-SDDG) Program. Making Strides For Autism is proud to be a nonprofit partner with UNF's "Now Loading" student team for our Autism Helpdesk project. FL-DSSG helps nonprofits with analyzing data, discovering hidden trends in data, developing data-driven approaches to solve recurring problems, and creating decision making tools.
